Manufacturing Safety Specialist, Ergonomics

Description

Our client is seeking a Safety Specialist, Ergonomics who will report to the Head of Environment, Health and Safety.  This position will ensure our facilities provide the best levels of efficiency, comfort, and safety for our team members from hiring, training to production. The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on human factors experience preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will be based in our manufacturing facility and require travel between headquarters and other job sites.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and analyze safety risk assessments to human performance, health, and safety
  • Provide industrial ergonomic support to identify and prioritize ergonomic risks, conduct ergonomic risk assessments, and provide recommendations on elimination of risk
  • Develop new and modify existing injury and illness prevention programs for the plant
  • Help investigate workplace incidents to determine and offer guidance on corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Assist Advanced Manufacturing with technology selection
  • Provide specifications for safety and ergonomic requirements on plant equipment and material handling processes
  • Recommend best practices for policies, procedures, work environment and equipment to support and improve human performance standards within all facilities
  • Support Advanced Manufacturing with process evaluation and configuration management
  • Liaise with Health Center and Industrial Clinic medical staff to provide job analysis reports for new positions and also to achieve successful return to work of injured employees  
  • Ensure safety standards and guidelines are adhered to on the job site
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy, Biomechanics, Occupational Health, or a related discipline
  • Minimum (4) four years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience is preferred
  • Must be self-motivated, with a desire to continuously improve, learn and provide creative solutions
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
  • Must be willing to commute to headquarters and other job sites
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.  This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
