New Plant Opening in Corpus Christi

Exxon and SABIC are to start construction on one of the biggest petrochemical plants in Texas just north of Corpus Christi. The plant will create 6,000 construction jobs and 600 permanent jobs, according to the companies. Startup is expected in 2022 on the 1.8 million metric ton ethane steam cracker, two polyethylene units and a monoethylene glycol unit. This plant will make chemicals used in automotive coolants, packaging, agricultural film and building, construction materials and clothing.
