UP Goes Red for Women

February 7, 2020 | Posted in Other news

UP supports Going Red for Women! Heart disease and stroke will impact the lives of 1 in 3 women, and cardiac incidents are on the rise for women in their twenties. Wearing red today on National Wear Red Day will raise awareness to the seriousness of cardiovascular disease.

About 80% of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented by understanding your family health history and knowing the five critical health numbers: total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index.

Knowing these numbers can help healthcare providers determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, maintaining a heart-healthy diet, incorporating daily physical activity and not smoking can be the best weapons in preventing heart disease and stroke.

Please help spread the word and support the cause! You can view the American Heart Association website on ways to be more involved and how to donate. Also visit https://www.goredforwomen.org/ for more information!
